IBC Junior Club Information

new

For IBC junior members planning to sign up for the EDBA Junior Winter Open tournament, please note that the tournament is being rescheduled due to school cancellation of the W.P. Wagner gym booked for this tournament.

There is still space for 11 members at the IBC Junior Club. Drop-ins are also welcomed at $3. Please e-mail Chang Yu if you require further details.

The IBC Junior Club is part of the IBC Club. The IBC Junior Club aims to provide ample opportunities for juniors 18 and under to practise their badminton skills in a fun and relaxed environment. Click here to see the play calendar.

The IBC Junior Club operates under the Collaborative Operating Model of the Edmonton District Badminton Association (EDBA). Under this model, the EDBA pays all gym rental and shuttle costs for running the IBC Junior Club. EDBA also sets a subsidized junior club fee to be collected. All fees collected by the IBC Junior Club go to the EDBA. IBC provides volunteers to operate and manage the IBC Junior Club. This Collaborative Operating Model allows juniors to play badminton at a reduced cost substantially subsidized by the EDBA.

The club plays Sundays at W.P. Wagner High School at 6310 Wagner Road, 1 to 3 p.m. The school is south of Argyll Road (i.e. 63 Ave) and between 86 St and 75 St. Please click here to see a location map for the school.

The IBC Junior Club does not provide formal badminton coaching to its members. Juniors interested in getting formal, structured training can enroll in the EDBA Junior Training Program. In our experience, a combination of structured training and ample time to practise the learned skills in club play is an excellent way for juniors to continually improve their badminton skills.

If you need further information regarding the IBC Junior Club, please contact our IBC Junior Club Coordinator, Chang Yu.
